LISA '11: Mark Burgess to Lead CFEngine 3 Training

LISA '11 kicks off Sunday, December 4, with in-person training. Attendees can choose among more than 45 classes, including Configuration Management Solutions with CFEngine 3, taught by CFEngine CTO Mark Burgess.

Burgess, along with Carolyn Rowland, will also teach A Sysadmin's Guide to Navigating the Business World, on Tuesday, December 6th.

On Wednesday, Burgess will be giving an invited talk called 3 Myths and 3 Challenges to Bring System Administration out of the Dark Ages.

Since 1997, Burgess has participated in all but a couple LISA events. "LISA has not changed very much at all over the years," he says. "In many ways it reflects the people — seeking refuge in their underground identity rather than looking to change. The biggest change is the arrival of mobile devices, so today everyone has their head stuck in a laptop or some other device while they are sitting in sessions."

He says that most of all, he likes meeting people and hanging out with and learning from them. Among others, people Burgess met at LISA events include Alva Couch, Dan Klein, Ellie Young, Andrew Hume, Æeleen Frisch, David Blank-Edelman, Marcus Ranum, Carolyn Rowland, and Nicole Forsgren Velasquez.

Also, Burgess says, "I like presenting invited talks where I can share ideas with a smart and interested audience."

If you plan to be part of the smart, interested audience at LISA '11, be sure to register by November 14 to take advantage of the early bird discount.
